“God created the heavens and the earth” and the youth is going to help honor this gift
by setting a commitment to start a parish wide recycling program. Starting in January
2012 the youth of St John of the Cross invites everyone to bring all plastic bottles,
glass bottles, aluminum cans, and paper (newspaper, magazines, mail etc.) to the
front of the church on the 2nd Sunday of every month. We are striving to extend the
life of the landfills in San Diego County, reduce greenhouse gas emissions,
conserve natural resources and aid in making products from recycled materials
which uses less energy and water.

to Los Angeles on Thursday February 21st for the annual Youth Day! More than 15,800
people from different backgrounds from throughout Southern California -- and beyond --
come together to participate in music, mass, workshops, and a youth rally. The cost is
$70, and include registration, transportation, t-shirt and lunch. If you are interested in
learning more about this day come to youth group and talk to Steve or contact Cristina at

- 'Synergy' a Catholic Youth Gathering will be held on Saturday April 6, 2013. It is a
day to bring together the numerous youth throughout the San Diego Diocese in a
day filled with unity, love and fellowship. The event activities include: praise and
worship music, mass with Bishop, nationally known speakers and youth witness
presentations. (Similar to Youth Day in Anaheim) “Indeed the body does not consist
of one member, but of many... As it is, there are many members, yet one body.”
Please join St John of the Cross youth as we become one Body in Christ and be
better collaborators in Jesus' mission. The cost of $38 will include your entrance to
the event, dinner and a t-shirt. The event starts at noon so please come having
already eaten lunch. We will meet in the St John parking lot at 11am, (please be on
time). The event ends at 9pm therefore we will return to St John at 9:30pm. To sign
