The RCIA process prepares both non-Catholic and those Catholics who have not received the sacraments for full participation in the life of the Church.

Candidates are from a vast variety of backgrounds; they are either baptized Catholics or baptized in another Christian denomination.

Catechumens are those who are asking for the Sacraments of Baptism, Eucharist and Confirmation. (There is a separate class for those that only
need Sacrament of Confirmation)

The RCIA is divided into four periods which mark the initiation process.
Evangelization, pre-catechumenate, no fixed duration or structure.

1.        Acceptance into the order of Catechumens. This is a liturgical rite, where the Church accepts their intention to respond to God’s call to follow the
way of Christ.

2.        Election or Enrollment of Names. This is a liturgical rite, usually celebrated on the First Sunday of Lent.  Purification and Enlightenment, this is a
time of reflection, centered on conversion, celebration of the scrutinies and presentations and of the preparation rites of Holy Saturday.

3.        Celebration of the Sacraments of Initiation.  This is a liturgical rite celebrated at the Easter Vigil.

4.        Postbaptismal catechesis or Mystagogy.  This is a time following the celebration of initiation, during which the newly initiated experience being
fully a part of the Christian community by means of pertinent catechesis and by participation with all the faithful in the Sunday Eucharistic celebration.

Sessions are held weekly on Tuesday evenings: 6:30pm- 8:30pm in the Kirk Center
