| Boy Scout Troop 972 was first brought to St. John of the Cross in 1993 by now Deacon Jim Stanley. Since then, the troop has oriented itself towards service in the community and the promotion of it's scouts within it's ranks. Within the last 5 years, 972 has produced 11 Eagle Scouts and has more soon to be promoted.
